The Evil King of the North (part 2)

During the international dispersion of Israel in New Testament times, ideologies and power structures originated in the world which are unprecedented in the history of humanity. In consequence, the political, military, economic, technological and religious landscape of the planet has greatly changed, giving rise to a renewed struggle for world domination in various spheres of life. Because of these developments restored Israel is confronted by hostile powers, reminiscent of the Roman Empire in the first century AD, which increasingly threaten their future survival. However, the end-time situation is much more complex as a worldwide attack is launched on the Jewish state from various fronts.

The Evil King of the North (part 1)

Since the beginning of their history as a people called by God, Israel were surrounded by enemies, leading to a situation in which wars and threatening wars were always part of their existence. By far the biggest threats came from the north, from where mighty enemies launched attacks on Israel with a view to destroying them. These wars were demonic-inspired because Israel are God's chosen people to whom His Word was entrusted with a message of salvation for all humanity (Rom. 3:1-2). They were also a people through whom the Son of God was incarnated in the royal house of David (Luke 1:26-35; 2:11), so as to be able to atone for the sins of every repentant sinner (John 1:29; Rom. 3:23-24). Israel are also destined to play a prominent role in the Messiah's future world government (Isa. 60:12), but that will only happen after the entire remnant of the people has been reconciled with the Messiah (Jer. 31:31-34; Zech. 12:10; Rom. 11:25-26).

Globalism and the Reign of the Antichrist

It is often alleged that the humanistic agenda of globalism is paving the way towards a new world order under the personal leadership of the Antichrist. The Bible confirms this scenario and gives a number of prophetic warnings against an end-time movement of this nature. However, the Bible also promises a Christian new world order under the leadership of Christ during the Millennium. Discernment is needed to be able to distinguish between the two kingdoms. In this article we will concisely review the ideology of humanistic globalism and indicate how it is skilfully used to promote a mindset which is conducive to the acceptance of the false christ.

The New Jerusalem and the Bride of Christ

Many people are not very clear on the relationship between the bride of Christ and the New Jerusalem. Some of them entertain the view that the city itself is the bride, and not its inhabitants, while others state that the city will only be the abode of the glorified Israel – not of the bridal congregation of Christ. John says the following on the significance and illustrious appearance of this wonderful city:

Blood Moons, Eclipses of the Sun, and Meteors

There are two important reasons why there is renewed interest in cosmic phenomena such as eclipses of the sun and moon, and also in the real danger which meteors and asteroids pose to a densely populated world. The one reason is the publication of information, mainly by Messianic Jews, indicating that there will be various so-called “blood moons” and eclipses of the sun which will coincide with important Jewish festivals, and therefore have eschatological significance. The other reason is a growing consciousness of the dangers which meteors and asteroids pose to life on earth.

Pastor Mark Biltz, a Messianic Jew of El Shaddai Ministries near Washington made an astounding discovery on eclipses of the sun and moon by relating them to biblical prophecies concerning Israel. He refers to various ‘blood moons’ that will occur in 2014 and 2015 during the sabbatical year of the present year-week. He interprets this phenomenon in terms of Joel 2:31 where God says, “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord.”

The Future - What Can We Expect?

There are two ways of interpreting biblical prophecies, i.e. the spiritualised and literal methods of interpretation. These two approaches lead to completely different and even conflicting expectations on what the future holds, and therefore confront us with the responsibility of gaining greater clarity on each of them. We should indeed know what lies ahead if we wish to be ready for it.
False expectations on the future give rise to disillusionment, confusion, as well as uncertainty on how the Bible should be understood. The absence of a clear future expectation produces lukewarm believers who are not properly acquainted with the Bible’s prophetic programme. Only a correct, biblical expectation enables us to be vigilant and to correctly interpret the signs of the times (Luke 12:54-56).

The Stone that will Destroy the Gentile Kingdoms (Daniel 2)

Through a dream, the Lord revealed to Nebuchadnezzar the nature and succession of Gentile kingdoms, from the destruction of Israel’s kingdom by the Babylonian Empire until the end of the times of the Gentiles when the Antichrist’s global empire will be destroyed by Christ (Rev. 19:19-21). Directly afterwards, the throne of David will be restored in Jerusalem by the Messiah Himself (Acts 15:16-17). This prophetic scenario is uninterrupted and extends right through the church dispensation while Jerusalem will continue to be trodden down by Gentile rulers: “And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled” (Luke 21:24). The sudden termination and destruction of Gentile rule in the world will occur at the second coming of Christ (Rev. 11:15). He is the stone that will destroy the image (Dan. 2:34-35).

Appearance and Works of the Antichrist

The end-time appearance of the Antichrist will be the final step in a demonically inspired programme for the establishment of antichristian thinking and actions which have persisted through many centuries. The final objective with this programme is to alienate the world population spiritually, morally and intellectually from God and His Word, in order that deceived humanity may voluntarily accept full control by an antichristian world government.

A Cashless Monetary System is Rapidly Emerging

In an article on www.theeconomiccollapseblog.com, titled: A cashless society may be closer than most people would ever dare to imagine, the following abridged remarks are made on the global transformation towards a cashless monetary system:

Most people think of a cashless society as something that is way off in the distant future.  Unfortunately, that is simply not the case. The truth is that a cashless society is much closer than most people would ever dare to imagine. To a large degree, the transition to a cashless society is being done voluntarily. Today, only 7 percent of all transactions in the United States are done with cash, and most of those transactions involve very small amounts of money. Just think about it for a moment. Where do you still use cash these days?  If you buy a burger or if you purchase something at a flea market you will still use cash, but for any mid-size or large transaction the vast majority of people out there will use another form of payment.

The Writing on the Wall

Daniel 5 describes the highly dramatic final hours before the fall of the once mighty Babylonian Empire. King Belshazzar gave a great banquet in his palace for 1 000 of his nobles, as well as his wives and concubines, to celebrate the greatness of Babylon. At this feast he acted disdainfully towards the God of Israel and arrogantly said that Israel’s God was unable to save them from the hands of the Babylonians. The king showed his contempt for the Jews and their God by having liquor served in the gold and silver goblets that Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple in Jerusalem when the city was captured by his forces. In his megalomania, Belshazzar honoured the mighty gods of Babylon and gloried in the invincibility of his empire.
