The Third Intifada

The widening circle of Arab uprisings in the Middle East is a cause of great concern to Christians, Jews, and all people who prefer peaceful solutions to violent struggles in settling political, religious and other disputes. In Defence of Israel?

Dr. Mike Evans of the Jerusalem Prayer Team (JPT) issued a strong appeal for international support for Israel in the face of a planned declaration of a Palestinian state in September 2011, with East Jerusalem as its capital. According to Mike, the United Nations will ratify this plan with the full support of the US and most other countries. Great concern is rightfully expressed that the implementation of the plan will seriously threaten the national interests of Israel.

Comfort My People!

The Bible gives very clear directions to the nations, particularly to the Christians, about their conduct and responsibilities towards Israel. If this advice is heeded, God promises to bless both parties – the giver and the recipient. These directions are mostly given in the imperative form and are therefore commands. If you want to know God's will regarding your relationship with Israel, and at the same time secure blessings for yourself and your nation, then do these things.

In Revelation 1:13, Christian congregations are likened to lampstands. As witnesses of Christ they must be like lights shining in a dark world. The lampstand referred to in this case, has seven branches. It also features in the Jewish religion, and is called a menorah. Apart from our general commission as witnesses of Jesus in the world, these seven candles must also be made to light up Israel's way, as indicated in the illustration.

Epicenter – the Heart of the World and the Universe

A well-known Messianic Jew of our time, Joel C. Rosenberg (see wrote a book with the title, Epicenter, in which he dramatically describes the rising tension in the Middle East as a prelude to the great war of Ezekiel 38 and 39. The word epicenter (Greek: epi-kentros) means in or on a central point. It may, for instance, refer to the point at which an earthquake reaches the earth’s surface, spreading out from there.
